10 Habits of Happy Mothers
Posted by: | CommentsToday is my mother’s birthday and I’m missing her a lot this year. Her birthday often fell on Mother’s Day and I think it moved me to pick up and read this book by Dr. Meg Meeker (a pediatrician for over 25 years). I thought it might be of interest to some of my fellow Virtual Assistants out there as well as other mothers. I really think the “habits” in this book (if put into practice) could help mothers feel less stressed, less self-critical, more valued and loved–couldn’t we all use that. She addresses the fact that many mothers have a full-blown obsession with getting mothering right and it is taking many of us down. She wrote this book to help you become a happier mother. The 10 habits are:
- understand your value as a mother
- maintain key friendships
- value and practice faith
- say no to competition
- create a healthier relationship with money
- make time for solitude
- give and get love in healthy ways
- find ways to live simply
- let go of fear, and
- hope is a decision–so make it.
