10 Habits of Happy Mothers

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Today is my mother’s birthday and I’m missing her a lot this year. Her birthday often fell on Mother’s Day and I think it moved me to pick up and read this book by Dr. Meg Meeker (a pediatrician for over 25 years). I thought it might be of interest to some of my fellow Virtual Assistants out there as well as other mothers. I really think the “habits” in this book (if put into practice) could help mothers feel less stressed, less self-critical, more valued and loved–couldn’t we all use that.  She addresses the fact that many mothers have a full-blown obsession with getting mothering right and it is taking many of us down. She wrote this book to help you become a happier mother. The 10 habits are:

  1. understand your value as a mother
  2. maintain key friendships
  3. value and practice faith
  4. say no to competition
  5. create a healthier relationship with money
  6. make time for solitude
  7. give and get love in healthy ways
  8. find ways to live simply
  9. let go of fear, and
  10. hope is a decision–so make it.
